Children’s Library

Our Children’s Library is only accessible to children under the age of 15. Parents and guardians may access the section when accompanied by their children. Our Children’s Library is a modern fun environment kitted out with playful furniture, and imaginative decor to create an engaging environment. It is carefully designed to offer children a quite space to read, fun in engaging with reading and learning and create a more immersive and engaging experience for young readers. Our Library also has a dedicated space for children with special needs.

Our Library is carefully curated to be welcoming, engaging, and supportive of children’s developmental stages, fostering a love for reading, learning, and creativity. Books will cover a range of topics for our various age groups.

Our Children’s Library aims to play a vital role in fostering literacy, creativity, and learning from a young age. Its purpose is not only to provide books but also to create a nurturing environment where children can develop a lifelong love of reading and expand their imaginations. Through engaging resources, supportive programs, and a welcoming atmosphere, a children’s library becomes an essential community hub for young learners and their families.

Picture Books

Books with vibrant, engaging illustrations and simple stories for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. These books help build early literacy skills and introduce children to basic concepts like numbers, colours and animals.

Board Books

Durable books with thick, sturdy pages designed for very young children, often with interactive elements like flaps, textures, or mirrors.

Early Readers

Books for children beginning to read independently, usually with simple sentences and large fonts, designed to help build vocabulary and confidence.

Chapter Books

For children who are ready to move beyond picture books, chapter books offer more complex stories with fewer pictures and longer text, typically aimed at kids ages 6–10.

Middle Grade Books

For pre-teens (ages 9–12), these books offer more advanced stories with more complex plots and character development, often involving themes like friendship, adventure, and self-discovery.

Non-Fiction Books

A variety of non-fiction materials, such as books on animals, science, history, or space, designed to educate and inform young readers while keeping them engaged through vivid images and interactive elements.

Storytime Areas

A cozy, inviting space where librarians or volunteers read aloud to children. Storytime is often organized by age group and may include songs, rhymes, or activities to engage young listeners.

Activity Tables

Areas where children can engage in hands-on activities such as puzzles, colouring, or crafts, often related to the themes of the books available in the library.

Interactive Displays

Themed displays or reading challenges that encourage children to explore new books, authors, and genres. This might include seasonal displays, book of the month highlights, or activity-based challenges.

Our SEN Section

Our Children’s Library will have dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) library service, designed to support individuals with various learning difficulties, cognitive impairments, or physical disabilities. It is tailored to provide accessible, inclusive resources that cater to the diverse needs of people with special educational needs, ensuring they have equal opportunities to engage with literature, learning, and educational materials. We also have a sensory room.

Our SEN library plays an essential role in creating an inclusive, supportive environment where children with special needs can explore literature, develop new skills, and access educational resources that meet their unique needs. 

The goal is to provide equal opportunities for learning and personal growth, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities or challenges, can enjoy the benefits of reading and education.
